Day 1 Filming Blog

Hello everyone! Welcome to my Day 1 Filming Blog! The rundown of today's blog will be David and I's first day of filming.

To begin, David and I were not able to access and bring in our advertised product, the Gatorade Protein Bar, so today we mainly focused on capturing scenes 1,2,4, and 6. In these particular scenes, David, our athlete, was the main individual focus. By filming day 2, David and I will have access to our advertised product to complete all scenes.

Scene 1: David and I went out to the Fort Lauderdale High track to get our large scale, wide, and high angled shots on the track. I will say a lot of experimenting while out on the track was required in order for us to get the perfect shot to use in our commercial. Some parts of the track had a parking lot in the background, the road, or even the track shed would be in the way but eventually we found our perfect position on the track to begin the filming process.

Scene 2: Scene 2 takes place with David on the track begin his routine track and field stretches. We had David do a series of lunges and skips, formally known and A and B skips for track and field conditioning. We wanted to film a series of different stretches to do a short montage of these preparation stretches to be placed in the commercial. These shots were captured in a wide angle.

Scene 4: Scene for shows our athlete prepping himself on the runner's apparatus to prepare to sprint off. We had David get into his runner's stance on the starting block to prepare to sprint off.

Scene 6: Scene 6 is the scene where we show a wide angled shot of David dashing the track into the distance with the Gatorade logo appearing big and bold on the screen.

Certain shots were definitely re shot over numerous times until we got the perfect shots. We did face certain challenges such as sharing the track with others and having to cooperate an arrangement with other groups to adequately film our advertisement.

David and I did do our Daily towards the end of the filming day to truly view the footage we captured and critique what we did correctly and would like to re film on day 2. Scenes 2,4, and 6 were perfect to our standards but scene 1 is one that I definitely would like to get the opportunity to re film.
