Script Blog!

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome to my script blog! This script does feature dialogue however dialogue is moderate in quantity as a portion of the script is done with captions! Scene 1: *Title screen fades out and wide shot zooming in on main character AJ sitting on couch* Narrated voice over : "It's a natural part of life to want to feel pretty. Pretty is in and truthfully it always has been. Honestly in girl world, pretty is everything. When you are pretty you get the guy, the followers, the random compliments while walking down the street. You even get to bask in the occasional jealousy you face because you're so pretty, so why wouldn't anyone want to be that?" Scene 2 Narrated: This is AJ well me, I never thought I was ugly but I never really thought I was pretty. I never really thought I was thin either, but I knew I was "thin enough." My body never dawned on me until this day when I just had to be on my stupid phone on stupid TikTok and see this.  *This is

Title Website Research

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome to my Title Website Research Blog! The title of a film plays a major part in how the film is conveyed. Titles give visual and verbal insight to what the play is about, a common theme found in the film or basically a word that connects to the significance of the film.  I took to using the resources of Artofthetitle.com along with Watchthetitles.com to gain more insight on the backstory and construction behind titles.  Beginning with Artofthetitle.com, I really did enjoy researching this sight. Art of the Title is very thorough. The site not only shows you each title but also shows the sequence along with the title, title significance such as awards its' won and the title's connection to the film and what the title's artwork and assisting graphics convey. For example, the title surrounding the series "Little America" is explored on the website. The series is one centered around the stories of immigrants living in America. The titles of the sh

Movie Convention Blog- The Breakfast Club

Image
The breakfast club is a timeless 80s classic coming of age film. The film follows 5 teenagers who meet and intertwine during a Saturday detention. The teens also represent a different stereotypical high school niche. John the rebel, Clair the princess type, the outcast Allison, Brian the brainiac, and Andrew the jock.  As the teens interact and explore each other's different walks of life they learn the lesson to not judge one another and that friendship can be formed despite differences once acknowledgement and a common similarity is found.  C.A.M.S (camera angles, movements, shots) - wide shots:  Since a big group of 5 is being followed and filmed together, wide shots are commonly found to capture the full group.  - low angles: In library scenes that where the characters are sitting on the floor they low angles are used to capture this.  - high angle shots:  In the film, the principal is the common enemy and symbol of superiority against the students, when he addresses the stude

Movie Convention Blog - Thirteen

Image
Thirteen is a drama movie, specifically a coming of age film that follows two main characters, Tracy and Evie. Tracy is initially a "goody two-shoes" type of character, friendly, sweet, innocent, and a star student. Evie on the other hand is the rebellious outgoing school mate who becomes friends with Tracy. Once the two collide and become friends, Tracy begins to adopt all of Evie's habits such as cutting school, smoking, partying, hanging with older men, disobeying her mom and completely transforming into Evie. The two eventually continue hang out but towards the end, Tracy learns that Evie isn't really her friend and instead learns that her true and authentic sweet self is the way she was meant to be since it's her authentic self. This film is the classic take on encouraging teenagers to not fall into peer pressure and once you do, the consequences will follow until you find your way back to your authentic self.  C.A.M.S (camera angles, movements, shots)  clos

Genre Decision Blog - Drama (Coming of Age Film)

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome to my Genre Decision Blog! After conducting research on various genres, I have decided I would like to choose drama, specifically a coming of age film. The main premise of a coming of age film is to follow an adolescent or young adult through their trials and tribulations of maturing through conflict. My film follows a teenage girl who begins to feel subconscious about herself, so she begins a diet to fix these insecurities. However this diet begins to spiral out of control and becomes a full on eating disorder, specifically Anorexia. By the end of this short film, the girl begins to see things for what they really are and come to the consensus that starvation and an eating disorder is not the answer, learning to love herself through her insecurities is the correct path to take. Initially I wanted to take the route of producing a romance film where the girl meets a love interest and the new found love encourages her and heals her from her eating disorder. I opt

Final Task- Genre Research Blog Drama (Coming of Age Film)

Image
Coming of age films are drama films that typically portray the moral growth of the main character from youth to adulthood, or a more matured state of mind. C.A.M.S (camera angles, movement, shots) - close up angles: Coming of age films want to strongly present the range of emotions the character goes through as the develop and mature. Close up angles help to produce this by giving close ups to the character's face emphasizing these portrayed emotions.  - cut away camera movements: Cut aways are camera movements that show the bigger objective shot of the scene then cut to individual important objects in the scene. When emphasizing a character, a big group will be shown as the entirety of the scene picture the it will cut away to the one character, typically our main character to emphasize the contrast and focus of them.  - two shots: Whether closely angled or angled far away, two shots are crucial for coming of age films in scenes where a significant romance, friendship, or conflic

Final Task- Romance Genre Research

Image
Romance Elements - The common core element of romance films are two main protagonists who explore a developing love story showcased throughout the film. Oftentimes, the two main characters go through a complex plot to get to their happily ever after and crucial film elements convey this storyline.  C.A.M.S (camera angles, movement, shots) - over the shoulder shot: These shots often convey a conversation setting between characters highlighting potential body language, emotions, or the general relationship between the characters.  - two shots/mid shots: This shot conveys a two person dynamic and shows the torso sector of the body and up of the two characters. Usually this type of shot shows the physical interaction of characters and is perfect for shots showing kisses between the main protagonists/love interests.  - long shots/establishing shots: Long shots/establishing shots help to establish location, usually locations that prove setting significance to the developing story.
