CCR BLOG- Creative Critical Reflection, reflecting on the journey of the first film!

Image
Hello everyone! welcome to my CCR Creative Critical Reflection Blog!  1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?    Our commercial was centered around sports, so the conventions used revolved around sports. Beginning the with the simplest yet most crucial is the product which serves as a convention itself, a Gatorade Protein Bar. Sports athletes need protein and fuel to empower them to excel, a protein bar further exudes this as it would be the source of this power. The setting takes place on a track where we see different track tools in the scenes such as hurdles. We then have the character/actor, an athlete dressed in athletic clothes further contribution that central theme in a sport’s commercial, a T- shirt, athletic shorts, and running shoes. The actions performed by the actor serve as a convention as well, in the commercial David is stretching and dashing along the track. Another convention would be the usage of

Hello everyone, welcome to my final production level blog! In this blog I will be discussing overview of the commercial, as well as the process behind it. First off I want to commend David and I for completing our commercial and I will say there is a huge amount of relief from completing this project. This commercial was David and I's first ever production so adapting to this process can be quite vigorous so to have completed this feels like a huge weight being lifted! This project definitely put a test on my group but the experience was well needed and earned. Communication and cooperation were tested, as well as breaking a strong need to have control and work alone which was very prevalent in David and I. We had to break our habits and learn to work as a team which was important. David and I both were able to teach each other new aspects of production which helped improve our ability to work together as a team. I was able to help David direct the commercial, and David was

Production Blog Filming Day 2/ Last Day of Filming

Hello everyone welcome to my second and final filming blog!  Today was a rather tough day to persevere through as I was not able to physically be with David today to continue editing and completing the commercial. The lack of effective of communication definitely took a toll on how smooth the editing process went. However, we managed to get it done. David still remained the main dominant man behind the editing process with some of my critiques being added to help perfect the finished product.  The editing did prove to be much more difficult than anticipated. Despite making the decision to go with a less intricate editing software, CapCut we still found some challenges to overcome. When editing a film a lot of precision is needed to avoid and choppy bits or sudden jump cuts from being implemented in the video. One can say it's almost like a science. Having to determine the exact second or scene you need to cut or reverb to add onto another one can truly make or break your entire co

Production Blog - First Day of Editing

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome to my second production blog where I will be discussing David and I's first editing day. After capturing our final film shots David and I were ready to edit. Today we spent a portion of the time considering various editing softwares and apps to choose from and we have decided on CapCut. We primarily chose this editing software since it is easy to use, doesn't require much vigorous training to work with, and David and I both have mild experience with using the editing software. This class period was also spent taking the time to decide what we would do with the footage we gathered along with what music sore and transitions would be used in accordance with the scene.  So far with the editing, David and I have gone through looking over scenes 1 and 2 with him stretching and dashing on the track and have began to edit. I will note I am not as experienced of an editor as David is, so through this editing process some guidance and much more cooperation will b

Filming/Production Blog Re-film at the Track

Hello everyone! Welcome to my second filming blog where I will be discussing my second day of filming with David at the track.  First off,  backtracking on our first day of filming David and I looked back at our shots and we were not very pleased so we got together, reviewed previous scenes in accordance with our storyboard and decided to do a re film of the entire commercial. I will say with these new scenes we shot there was drastic improvement. Improvement was shown not just in our resulting shots of the re film but in our communication, cooperation, and the overall production quality. This new style of smoother communication with David and I certainly reflected on our commercial, in comparison to our shots from Day 1 on the track, they were cleaner, and definitely more professional than before.  Another thing important to note to this day's filming process is that David and I were able to actually plan our shots together instead of having that director and actor dynamic that w
