Production Blog Filming Day 2/ Last Day of Filming

Hello everyone welcome to my second and final filming blog!

Today was a rather tough day to persevere through as I was not able to physically be with David today to continue editing and completing the commercial. The lack of effective of communication definitely took a toll on how smooth the editing process went. However, we managed to get it done. David still remained the main dominant man behind the editing process with some of my critiques being added to help perfect the finished product.

The editing did prove to be much more difficult than anticipated. Despite making the decision to go with a less intricate editing software, CapCut we still found some challenges to overcome. When editing a film a lot of precision is needed to avoid and choppy bits or sudden jump cuts from being implemented in the video. One can say it's almost like a science. Having to determine the exact second or scene you need to cut or reverb to add onto another one can truly make or break your entire commercial. I could tell that this portion of the filmmaking process definitely stressed David out so keeping the composure together while encouraging each other definitely helped tremendously. A lot of frustration and eagerness to complete our video resulted in showing true teamwork and cooperation from David and I.

Another task we found some difficulty in was maintaining a level of visual professionalism with our video. Our shots we captured were beautiful, the angles and quality were top notch but we had to adopt different editing methods adjusting certain undertones by recoloring the scenes, or repeatedly having to chop up certain scenes to make them appear more professional like traditional film would become tedious.

Referring back to my inability to be physically with David to complete the editing process, we were still able to go back and review to see what we were working with so far and what we needed to improve on our commercial. Once again, this part of the filmmaking process proved to be the most difficult and tedious. David and I are also quite the pair of novices when it comes to editing a fully functional video, smaller less professional edits are nothing compared to this project! Editing has taken a lot of time, but a lot of knowledge and education that we can take into projects in the future can and will be applied. David and I make a good team together I have realized through this project and especially in the editing process. We are both able to be productive together, overall critique our weakness, and help each other improve and grow. Thank you for reading my final production blog!
