Production Blog - First Day of Editing
Hello everyone! Welcome to my second production blog where I will be discussing David and I's first editing day.
After capturing our final film shots David and I were ready to edit. Today we spent a portion of the time considering various editing softwares and apps to choose from and we have decided on CapCut. We primarily chose this editing software since it is easy to use, doesn't require much vigorous training to work with, and David and I both have mild experience with using the editing software. This class period was also spent taking the time to decide what we would do with the footage we gathered along with what music sore and transitions would be used in accordance with the scene.
So far with the editing, David and I have gone through looking over scenes 1 and 2 with him stretching and dashing on the track and have began to edit. I will note I am not as experienced of an editor as David is, so through this editing process some guidance and much more cooperation will be required of David and I to complete our commercial. I will have to be following along his lead a little bit more as we reach and complete the editing phase of our commercial.
I feel as though a crucial part of the editing process we must get right to truly convey the message in our commercial is through music choice. We want to select a song that has a beat and sound to it that suggests power however we want to choose a song that flows with the commercial. Taking inspiration from other Gatorade ads we've looked at, they all use select score choice to appeal to the audience's emotion. A song idea I had in mind was Wicked Ones- Dorothy. This song is one that has a beat to it that is rather powerful and matches the aesthetic we are aiming for where we portray the advertised Gatorade Protein Bar to give athletes momentum and energy to excel.
Another task David and I must master during our editing process is mastering our transitions. We have brainstormed some effects we want to incorporate however through the editing process we had some difficulty getting our transitions smooth to be visually appealing to the eye. Through practice and further precision we will get better to produce a wonderful commercial.
