First Editing Day!
Hello everyone! Welcome to my second production blog! In this blog we’ll be overviewing our first day editing!
Filming on Friday was a stressful success. My group and I managed to complete all of the necessary filming in one day despite any setbacks. This definitely was needed and took a level of stress off of my group and I because the extra day gave us some extra time to edit and perfect our music video.
The editing software we decided to use was iMovie. iMovie is quick and simple along with being very efficient to use. Today’s editing was too productive per day since we mainly focused on any technicalities such as matching up the certain scenes to the correct timing so we have an adequate story line. It was important to have precise timing because we needed to reach out time limit of one minute and fifteen seconds. It was also important to make sure we have certain significant lyrics of the songs match the acted/portrayed scene. After getting the timing right we actually
began to put the clips into iMovie, we began cutting them at the necessary parts to fit the proper time frame. Editing wasn’t hard to my surprise, I believe the surprising east has to do with the fact that we have some prior editing knowledge and iMovie is a very simple editing software to use.
At times we did get a bit frustrated because certain scenes ran too long or too short and we would have to change things around to fit. Whether we needed to have a clip be longer or shorter or even just overall rearranging certain clips, we evaluated these issues and fixed them.
Although editing just began, I will say this time around it’s a lot smoother and faster than editing for the previous commercial project. Maybe due to more experience or once again just the choice in software, less stress was present and I noticed that the video quality was already improved before we were even near finished with editing. Even though we are still beginners in filmmaking, this editing day showed me that the more you work the better your work is. Our shots were smoother and more professional along with our editing and editing style. Overall today was a good day, the productivity was set the tone that my group and I will be victorious!
