Final Task- Group Blog

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my group blog of the final task!

For the past 2 tasks I've taken to route to be collaborative and work in groups however, this task I've taken the route of working solo! One would think that you would want to do the most vigorous task of the course in a group however I wanted to take this task to explore my creativity and challenge myself to produce a film solo! I also trust my new found filmmaking abilities to effectively produce this 2 minute film. I feel as though the past projects and their increasing intensity have helped prepare me to do this project alone. Since this is a film and requires more creativity in production I also wanted to begin exploring my own creativity. In a film, you have to consider the production aspect of the theme, music choice, possible dialogue, the feelings you want to convey. Advertisements and music video still require these aspects to be considered however they are presented in a more straight forward manner. With this project, I also wanted to work together to avoid any conflicts of interest. My past group partners have been wonderful however I found that there will always be certain conflicts of interest within groups of multiple people. Whether these conflicts are resolved or further intensified is dependent on the group however I feel as though I have gotten enough group experience where I can work with myself. Initially, when I began conducting the course tasks, I opted to push myself into more group settings so I could get over any internalized feelings of bossiness. I often worked alone because I had a mindset of only wanting to process and conduct my own ideas so working in groups would mitigate this issue. Only being able to work alone definitely is unprofessional since movie production requires teamwork and collaboration and getting used to a shared environment helps to build work ethic. Through group work I definitely did learn to share more and listen to others' creative contributions to reach a compromise. I also learned to ask for help and asking for help doesn't equate to insufficiency. Through this extensive group work, I feel as though I have gotten enough experience to return to working alone. The film idea I have brainstormed is also one that is very personal to myself and I am confident i can effectively deliver this film.
