Fifth Production Blog - Wrap Up Filming

Hello everyone! Welcome to my fifth production blog! In this blog we'll be following my final day of filming!

Since I took on this final task independently I knew it would be a lot of work but since the film is independent some aspects of the filmmaking process would naturally be easier. However I did find my self slacking unfortunately! So today I set out to complete every scene and film. For some reason I made my schedule very lax and considerable to the amount of time I have to work on this film. Even though I was running on time with my film and editing schedule, I noticed that I needed to make some adjustments to my initial schedule to complete the film in its entirety. AICE testing and FSA testing is approaching so I truly am on crunch time with my film schedule. Today I went over my storyboard and called my peer, who is also going to be my secondary actor. During the call, we went over some creative aspects and ideas to incorporate with the scenes. We thought up an editing montage of me running on the treadmill before I went ahead and started filming. After that I packed a bag of 3 different workout outfits and went back to the gym to film my other workout scenes since last time I finished only one. My last filming day I also filmed the scenes of me on the couch scrolling through my phone. Being completely honest this shot took quite a bit of tries since I needed my mom to meet the exact shot requirements along with correcting the scenery of my living room. I then went to film the scene of me in the mirror which was my favorite since I was able to film and execute it perfectly in one shot! I did do a mini film review by having my mom, who is reliably unbiased to deliver the truth and constructive criticism to help improve my film. The main thing we had to critique was the FaceTime scene since it was extremely dark to be completely visible. I tried to go back and edit it by turning up the exposure but the lighting was simply too dark. The scene was supposed to be dim on purpose to fit the calm bedroom feel given by the scene so we turned my lighting fixtures up and went to re film. Lastly, we filmed the two kitchen scenes. These scenes were a hassle to film and this was mainly due to the lighting. The lighting in my kitchen is parallel to how the kitchen barstools are placed so ultimately my back was turned to the lighting making for an unflattering shot. To fix this we used my other set of kitchen light and a lamp that was not visible to make the lighting fixture better. By this point we were done with the filming. It was 9PM by this time and I was exhausted. Thankfully I finished all my filming and that's what matters!
