Elijah Our Saving Grace
Hi everyone! Welcome to my fifth production blog! The objective of today’s blog is a continuation of my casting issue.
Last blog I spoke about an incident dealing with my casting. This was upsetting at first since I really needed to get actual film production started. After searching the entire Fort Lauderdale High, I wasn’t really successful which I honestly expected. Throughout searching, I kept finding that boys thought the movie was “girly” or they apparently didn’t have the time. Another factor I think contributed to the lack of boys participating is because I have a kissing scene in the film. Of course I will abide by what is appropriate for the this film with nothing explicit done. However, the scene will simply be something quick and simple, more like a pop kiss and less like a french kiss lol. Now I want to note, this doesn’t mean that Laura and Jasmine aren’t beautiful, but I understand the shock and now wanting to kiss a stranger. So after spending two days searching for a new male love interest, I contacted Laura and Jasmine and we started searching for more potential actors together. Last blog I mentioned that my school was conducting the musical Matilda, leaving us a pool of actors to go through. After careful consideration we all simultaneously thought of a great idea. We thought of using Elijah! Elijah is a junior who is in the Matilda musical casted as Mr. Wormwood, Matilda’s father. I’ve seen the musical and the character Elijah plays has plenty of lines, songs, and choreography and Elijah has mastered them for the most part. This is beneficial since this means he’s able to rehearse and memorize lines in time to begin filming. Elijah is tall, he’s a teenager, and most importantly he’s a mutual friend of Me, Jasmine, and Laura meaning he has the perfect chemistry for both. I’m excited for this film to begin and i’m glad Elijah has made it all work out, and thankfully he’s okay with the kissing scene!
