Redoing Basically Everything

For the past couple days, I decided to take a break from my short film to take care of school work and rest. While the break was fun, it's time to get back to work. Last blog I discussed how my film had to undergo a massive plot change. After a moment of panic, I was luckily able to get my actors on board.

Despite successfully producing a story board with a well thought out plot, all of that was in a whim and I have yet to redo my plan for everything, location, script, safety plan, and backup plan so that's what will be discussed in this blog!

Actors: Laura Alcala, Jasmine Megnauth, Joseph Aguasviva

Locations: Laura Alcala's house - Davie, FL, Wolf Lake Park - Davie, FL, Menchie's - Davie, FL

Backup Locations: Richardson Park and Nature Preserve - Wilton Manors, FL, Wilton Creamery - Wilton Manors, FL

As for my script, I am the most panicked about that since I have less time to get everything done but I am faithful everything will work out perfectly. For the sake of time, I think I want to take the approach of involving the creativity of my cast to rewrite my script. Laura and Jasmine are both creatives who have participated in theater programs in the past. I plan to write a majority of the script but instead of having Laura and Jasmine rehearse lines and perform them verbatim, I plan to give them conversation context with certain lines and tone guidelines to keep film dialogue as natural as possible. As for Joseph, I am aware he doesn't have the best thespian abilities which is completely okay, the objective if to have the film resemble a real life situation so I'll just have to write him some real lines.

I will be honest, working in a solo group is always twice as overwhelming that in a an actual group. I do enjoy the AICE Media class and its' content however, directing is not something I would view as a hobby or something I am good at so the conscious work ethic tends to takeover. I am thankful for my actors as they are strong-minded and creative people who are able to give me needed criticism and direction because sometimes the workload of a solo ran project can be a little much.
